Washington, D.C. — Today, American Car Rental Association (ACRA) Executive Director Don Lefeve issued the following statement regarding the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolutions overturning California’s electric vehicle (EV) mandates:
“ACRA applauds the House of Representatives for passing H.J. Res. 87, H.J. Res. 88, and H.J. Res. 89 — important measures that protect consumer choice and help ensure a diverse and affordable vehicle marketplace.
We especially thank Representatives John James (H.J. Res. 87), John Joyce (H.J. Res. 88), and Jay Obernolte (H.J. Res. 89) for their leadership in sponsoring these resolutions and for defending the rights of consumers nationwide. Their efforts recognize that Americans — particularly rental car customers — deserve the freedom to choose vehicles that best meet their travel and business needs.
As an industry that serves millions of travelers annually, ACRA members understand that transportation needs vary widely. Policies that promote innovation without limiting availability are essential to meeting those needs.
The House’s action today is an important step toward preserving a vehicle marketplace that is open, competitive, and responsive to consumer demand.”
